How to Help Haiti? Ask Your Mama! The sold-out Carnegie Hall performance comes to Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center to benefit Haiti. Join renowned soprano Jessye Norman, The Roots, singers Nnenna Freelon and de’Adre Aziza, George Manahan and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in a vivid sonic journey into the world of Langston Hughes, from Africa to the Americas, cities to suburbs, opera to jazz, gospel to be-bop. Co-created with Jessye Norman, Emmy-winning composer Laura Karpman's Ask Your Mama, based on Hughes' epic poem, is an exhilarating fusion of jazz, carnivale, opera, and poetry slam.
Proceeds from this performance will be donated to Partners in Health and The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund to benefit Haiti in its time of need.
