Wycliffe Gordon & Friends

Overview

With Wycliffe Gordon, trombone, trumpet, vocals; Adrian Cunningham, saxophones; Michael Dease, brass and saxophones; Aaron Diehl, piano; Yasushi Nakamura, bass; Dion Parson, drums

Where Wycliffe Gordon appears, great music and a good time aren’t far behind, and that will certainly be the case this week as he celebrates the music of Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker.  In addition to demonstrating surgeon-like technical precision on the trombone, he’s equally versed on other horns and can sing up a storm.  Gordon’s entourage includes some of the hottest young names in the business like pianist Aaron Diehl and trombonist Michael Dease, another very talented multi-instrumentalist. They arrive with the admirable mission of exploring bebop, past and future, as part of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Dizzy & Bird Festival.
