Bonilla has immersed himself into the New York scene long enough to find top players to enter his musical world, and we are lucky enough that he allows us in for a listen. He has a way of maneuvering the curves of bebop both in his arrangements of standards and in his own tunes to create a sound that is uniquely Luis Bonilla, moving in directions that are expanding our notions of jazz and leading us into startling new realms with "remarkable creativity and versatility."
