Clarence Penn is the leader of multiple bands, a composer, a prolific producer, and an educator. Since he arrived in New York City in 1991, Penn has become a fixture in the jazz capital, performing with a staggering array of A-list artists, including Ellis and Wynton Marsalis, Betty Carter, Stanley Clarke, Steps Ahead, and Makoto Ozone. His explorations in a broad spectrum of jazz expression have led to an impressive discography of several hundred studio albums, including the GRAMMY® Award-winning 34th and Lex by Randy Brecker, as well as Concert in the Garden and Sky Blue by Maria Schneider.
