Overview
-
With Mark Turner, saxophone; Ethan Iverson, piano; Ben Street, bass
With a decade under its belt, this multi-generational and genre-spanning quartet presents a unique and wizened vision of jazz. Led by drummer Billy Hart, who has performed with some of the most significant jazz musicians of the last 45 years including Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner, this quartet performs both original compositions and clever investigations of essentials including John Coltrane’s “Giant Steps” and Sonny Rollins’ “Airegin.” Saxophonist Mark Turner and bassist Ben Street, prolific artists since the 1990s, and pianist Ethan Iverson, best known as one third of The Bad Plus, interact and experiment with the always-flexible and strikingly conversational drumming of Billy Hart.
