The hard work of drummer Carl Allen as both anchor of the group and artistic director of jazz studies is quite evident both at the school and on any stage where this quartet plays. The presence of bassist Ron Carter just makes everything majestic with pianist Frank Kimbrough and saxophonist Ron Blake rounding out the quartet.
