Jazz Jam

Jazz and Art

Kicking off this enlightening multimedia approach to the art of jazz and the jazz of art, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will perform music inspired by 20th century visual artists. In addition, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra's Ted Nash will revive his triumphant suite, Portrait in Seven Shades, which illustrates the visual styles of iconic painters Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, Chagall, Dali, and Pollock in the language of the jazz orchestra, complemented by large-scale video projections of selected art works of these masters. The JLCO will also be joined for this performance by Nathalie Bonin on violin, Clark Gayton on tuba, and Bill Schimmel on accordion.
