Essentially Ellington

A free program for high school jazz bands, Essentially Ellington aims to elevate musicianship, broaden perspectives and inspire performance. Through the music of seminal big band composers including Duke Ellington, Benny Carter, Mary Lou Williams, Count Basie, and Dizzy Gillespie, beginning bands can work on the building blocks of jazz, while more advanced groups can explore elements of style and self-expression. Students at any level will experience the thrill of playing some of the most joyful music ever written. EE is open to high school bands in the U.S., Canada, and in American schools abroad.
