Moonglow: The Magic of Benny Goodman
Jazz at Lincoln Center revisits the story of jazz’s first popular integrated band for two nights with Moonglow: The Magic of Benny Goodman in The Appel Room on Friday & Saturday, March 4 & 5, 2016 at 7pm & 9:30pm. Scriptwriter and seven-time Emmy Award-winner Geoffrey Ward (Ken Burns’ Jazz) pens the script for these special concerts.

JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER ORCHESTRA PRESENTS BUDDY RICH CENTENNIAL: CELEBRATING THE JAZZ DRUM
New York, New York (February 24, 2017) - The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will showcase the virtuosity of big band drums and rhythm during the Buddy Rich Centennial: Celebrating the Jazz Drum, April 7-8. The drums are the engine of a jazz band, setting the pace and energy for any piece of music. The program will be led by drummer Ali Jackson, and include the world premiere of his Living Grooves: A World in Jazz Rhythm, an extended piece written in the spirit of jazz drum greats like Buddy Rich. Jackson will also arrange the music of Buddy Rich with his knowledge of jazz styles that range from American drum cadences to ragtime, marching bands, West African traditions, Brazilian music, Detroit jazz tradition, and Afro-Cuban styles.
